Elie Saab fashion house has introduced a line of wedding gowns called Elie Saab Bridal. This is the first collection of the brand entirely devoted to wedding images. Earlier, the Lebanese designer created wedding dresses only within the Haute Couture collection in collaboration with a Spanish brand Pronovias in Dubai, and on a by-order basis. Elie Saab Bridal line comprises 25 dresses in typical for the fashion house feminine style, including midi-dresses and one-piecers whose silhouette has become flagship for the brand. The garments are made from Elie Saab’s favorite fabrics – delicate guipure, tulle and silk, and decorated with embroidery and lace. The line is complemented with accessories – various options of veil, hair ornaments, as well as flat shoes, high-heeled shoes and clutch bags. The dresses from this wedding collection have been sold since October 2016 around the world. Their prices are from 5,500 euros and higher.
Who is Elie Saab?
Eli first appeared in Paris more than thirty years ago, in the early eighties when many immigrants from the Middle East tried to grow roots in the French capital. But Saab had come from war-torn Beirut, not only to escape the explosions. He wanted to study fashion which was not the most popular profession in the Middle East. One year later, he returned to Lebanon and opened his own studio. There was still fighting in the streets of Beirut, when an eighteen-year-old tailor sewed for Lebanese women luxurious evening and wedding dresses. In 1982, Saab showed his first large collection at Casino du Liban. The press immediately dubbed him a young genius, and soon every Middle East beauty yearned to get an outfit for special occasions by Elie Saab.
Fifteen years later, in 1997, Eli showed his collection in Rome, and he was immediately invited to the National Chamber of Italian Fashion. He became the first non-Italian who had received such an invitation. But his finest hour struck only in 2002, when Halle Berry came to receive “Oscar” in a burgundy gown by ElieSaab. In 2003, Ali became a member of the French Syndicate of High Fashion – and thus, he officially entered the congregation of on-couture designers. Now, among his clients –are singers Christina Aguilera and Beyonce, actresses Liz Hurley, Charlize Theron, Catherine Zeta-Jones. Rania, the Queen of Jordan, at the ceremony of the coronation of her husband, King Abdullah II, surprised everyone by an organza dress with gold embroidery and lace inserts. The headquarters of the House of Elie Saab is located in Beirut. But today he has offices in New York and Paris and more than sixty stores worldwide.
